And at the Gartner Symposium and ITxpo97 here today, the CEO of competitor Dell Computer added his voice to the chorus when asked what could be done to fix the Mac maker. His solution was a drastic one.

“What would I do? I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders,” Michael Dell said before a crowd of several thousand IT executives.

Dell’s comments follow Steve Jobs’s keynote address at the Seybold trade show last week in San Francisco, where the Apple cofounder seemed to win over attendees with his explanation of why he had made certain key decisions, killing the clone market and aligning more closely with Microsoft. The Seybold crowd–as well as some Apple employees–also seemed to be buoyed by the increasing role Jobs has taken on at the company as board member and interim CEO.

When it comes to defending its green cred, Dell is not exactly a wallflower. The Texas-based computer manufacturer, which has been making one of the most substantial efforts in the industry to produce more environmentally sound products and shrink its carbon footprint, has taken to task competitor Apple’s latest claims about having “the world’s greenest family of notebooks” — first in a smackdown post on its company blog, and now with a complaint filed with the advertising industry’s self-regulator, a forum for reviewing the truthfulness of claims in ads and marketing .
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, or NAD, delivered a bittersweet decision on Dell’s complaint yesterday. As the New York Times Green Inc. blog reports  this morning, NAD concluded that Apple can legitimately market its latest generation of MacBooks as being greener than some product lines from a given competitor (the new MacBooks earn high Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, or EPEAT ratings), but that “world’s greenest” has “potential for overstatement.”

According to thisisxbox, an unconfirmed and unknown source –to us– has informed the site that a Call of Duty prequel is in the works. The website states right at the beginning that this source was the same place where they obtained Kinect’s name, Call of Duty: Black Ops‘ existence, and the first Gears of War 3 images.

According to the source, Infinity Ward are working on a Call of Duty prequel that will focus on Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 by showing how he ended up joining Task Force 141 — the source also says that these events will be based off of the comic book stories written by David Lapham. The game will also focus around the events leading up to the war in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Players will re-visit key locations from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, but from a different point of view.

Of course, this is just a rumour. If we receive word from either Activision or Infinity Ward regarding this supposed sequel, we will update.

Something seems a bit off though. If Infinity Ward is involved, shouldn’t the new Call of Duty title be carrying on from where Modern Warfare 2 left off? Could this prequel be the Call of Duty project that Sledgehammer are currently developing? We’ll just have to wait and see.
